STEVEN COURTNEY -- Songwriter's Workshop (call for information to add workshops to your concert packages.) • THE WORKSHOP (for children age 9-12) This one hour workshop, created and facilitated by Steven Courtney, is a workshop in which students learn to create lyrics and basic melodies. Courtney effortlessly guides students, step by step, to create a "mini-song" and embellishes the journey with humor and historical music examples. SCHOOL ASSEMBLIES Steven Courtney's school assembly concerts, go far beyond entertaining by providing an "upbeat" look at positive social behavior and being a kid. Songs like "My Yo-Yo" and "If The World Was Filled With Love" bring a fresh sense of fun and joy to learning. Steven's popular songs like "Steven the Pirate" and "Nice Little House" spark the imagination of the young to dream and be creative. To put it in a nutshell (if you can find one big enough) Steven's concerts will delight students and staff with songs, humor, stories and more, all the while providing a format that encourages the concepts of the Arts and Education. WORKSHOPS Steven Courtney's "Let's Write A Song" workshop, is a fun and creative learning experience for your students. Steven and the students work together to develop lyrical ideas. Mr. Courtney then guides students to develop their original lyrics into a lyrical song. These lyrics are matched with a host of musical styles and tunes performed by Steven. A hilarious, musical history tour ensues! Children are thrilled to learn about music's roots, while hearing their lyrics, travel through time. Steven teaches the children a chosen melody, and singing together they record a demo of their new song! Students are delighted when they listen to their very own musical creation! Up tempo, involving, imaginative and educational for grades 3-6! Steven Courtney's Anti-Bullying Workshop Steven Courtney's anti-bullying workshops, actively engage children in dialogue and problem solving in the area of bullying. Students participate in games, storytelling, and role playing that directly address specific issues. Steven works with small groups to ensure that every student has the opportunity to become involved in learning constructive dialogue, and problem-solving to deal with bullying. Steven Courtney, award winning performing songwriter, has been writing songs and performing concerts for children and families since 1991. On April 1, of 1991, Steven Courtney quietly began his journey into the world of family entertainment and children's music. 16 years later he still continues... Educators admire Courtney's delivery of upbeat material balanced with an experienced control of the school assembly demands. Parents love Courtney's upbeat music and positive social messages. Courtney's concert themes include compassion, respect, positive attitude, perseverance and more. Kid's love Steven Courtney's songs! From "42 Monkeys" to "Happy Go Lucky Shoes," Courtney provides fun, upbeat tunes, filled with musical hooks that mom and dad enjoy with their kid's. Having composed and recorded over 200 songs in a span of 15 years, Courtney has something to say to everyone. Courtney's family has provided plenty of inspiration too! Steven's wife, Joyce, has played a major role in support of Steven's career and has worn many hats for their production company. Joyce has been a songwriter, co-producer, vocalist, lyricist and co-manager, to name a few of the titles that apply to her contribution, of Steven's success. Courtney's daughter, Brooke and son, Taylor have also provided inspiration and support to the entire family effort. Everywhere Steven or the band travels, people of all ages sing, clap and dance to the band's infectious music. Performing concerts in "state of the art" auditoriums, run-down school gymnasiums, old-time churches, summer festivals and more -- this band always wins their audience.
